The Union Volunteers - Frank Ruiz Sr. Commanding |
Our Mission:
Our mission is to bring the reenacting experience back to where it was years ago by losing the egos and politics! We are for the reenactor by the reenactor! Our motto is as follows:
"Safety, Fun and Authenticity"
We want to allow the members of our organization the ability to reenact in a politic free environment, a fun environment, and a safe one most of all.
Company Overview:
The Union Volunteers was created by Frank Ruiz Sr to allow for organizational support to the member companies in the northeastern region as well as of the U.S. We have member units in the midwest and southern regions as well and do our best to support all of them. We offer homes to both progressive and main-streamers with a higher standard of reenacting.
We believe that every member from private to the top should have a say in the direction that the organization is headed. We strive to support our member units at events, both national and local unit events.
We currently consist of three "wings" of reenacting type of units. They are, Infantry, Cavalry and Artillery.
Infantry Wing: (Headed by Lt Col Frank Ruiz Jr)
First Battalion is comprised of progressive living historians. This is for the living historian who wants more of a progressives style of reenacting.
2nd Battalion is geared towards the more mainstream living historian. This is for the living historian who maintains a higher standard of reenacting , but prefers the mainstream style of the hobby.
3rd Battalion is based in the mid-western United States and supports the Union Volunteers at major national events.
Cavalry Wing: (Headed by Major Patrick J. Stultz)
We are currently in the building stages of this wing but have a few mounted and remount Cavalry units. More to come as this Wing grows to full strength. Our philosophy when it comes to Cavalry is that it should be used as cavalry and not just as runners, or people to guard camp. Our cavalry is OUR cavalry and will be used by our Commander to do the job that is needed to be done.
Artillery Wing: (Headed by Captain Jerry Bergeron)
We possess our own Artillery Unit within the United States Volunteers and are looking to build this further. Our Artillery Chief is fully versed in all tactics of the time, and when it comes to safety, fun and authenticity. He is the best!
If you wish to join our little motley crew of fun loving living historians, please send us a message!
